Mitch Butt

Mitch is the founder of South Face Build Co. and a lifelong Boise resident. After 14 years in the trade, his passion for building is still rooted in two things: exceptional craftsmanship and a dedication to building better homes.


Mitch started South Face after working alongside some of Boise’s top builders. While the look of the finished product was often phenomenal, he noticed a critical gap: a lack of focus on performance and durability. He branched out on his own specifically to combine high-quality framing and finishing with a genuine commitment to the environment, energy efficiency, and adopting the best, most durable building practices available today.


Mitchell transitioned from competitive college soccer to an obsession with building. His background spans both residential carpentry and commercial project management, giving him a comprehensive understanding of both the granular details on-site and the complexity of managing a large-scale project.


He is proud to lead a small, local crew that is deeply invested in promoting family lifestyles through intentional, sustainable building. When he's not on a project site, Mitch is busy enjoying life as a new dad to his daughter.

James Woodlawn

James Pimley

James is the essential, hardworking guy who ensures every South Face job site runs smoothly. Raised on a farm outside Portland, Oregon, he brings a versatile skill set and relentless work ethic to the team.


James is known as the man who truly knows a little bit of everything, which is invaluable for managing diverse site challenges. While he previously managed complex commercial roof material sales, his true expertise lies in site work and machinery. If a project involves ground work, James is on the machine. He handles all of our excavation with unparalleled precision.


When he’s not working hard on site, James is focused on being an awesome dad, bringing that same level of dedication and reliability to his family life.

Dom Wodlawn

Dom Niemi

Dom is the dedicated team member responsible for bringing a specialized level of finish and craftsmanship to every job.


Originally from Denver, Dom is our hardwood flooring specialist, ensuring that one of the most visible and heavily-used components of your home is installed flawlessly and built to last.


Beyond his technical expertise, Dom is the cornerstone of our team culture. Widely known as the nicest guy you will ever meet, he is essential for keeping the entire crew happy and working together efficiently on site.


Like his teammates, Dom is focused on family and is a new dad.
